What are the check in and check out times?

Check in is from 2.00pm and check out is 11.00am.
Other times by arrangement.

What happens if we need to cancel?

For individual bookings there is no charge if cancelled by noon on the day prior to arrival. For group bookings see our T&C’s on the booking page of our website.

In all cases if we re-let the room there is no cancellation charge.

 

Can we bring children?

Children over the age of 8 are welcome to stay at The Pheasant. We have an early bird with children's menu in the Bistro from 6-7pm. Children over 12 are welcome in the Fell Restaurant.

 

Do we need to book dinner?

It is a good idea to make a dinner reservation particularly at weekends – we have both The Bistro and fine dining in the Fell Restaurant.

 

What is the dress code for dinner?

The dress code is smart casual.

 

Do you cater for vegetarian or special diets?

Yes – please let us know when making your reservation.

 

Is there non-resident dining?

Yes – for both The Bistro (7 days) and Fell Restaurant (Tues – Sat pm & Sun lunch). See our opening times.

 

Which rooms in the hotel are dog friendly?

We have four dog-friendly rooms. Our Garden Lodge rooms (Newlands & Orthwaite) are both dog friendly, as are Matterdale and Kirkstone (Standard Rooms).

 

Is your restaurant dog friendly?

Dogs are welcome in the lounges and bar, but not in The Bistro or Fell Restaurant (special needs dogs excluded).

 

How do we book the off-site spa at Armathwaite?

Book a slot with reception 9am-2pm, 2pm-6pm or 6pm-9pm. 4 places are available at any one time. If you wish to book a treatment, please book direct with the Spa on 017687 88900. Read more information on the spa.

 

Is there disabled access?

Yes, to the hotel and there is a disabled loo. We also have one room that is suitable for guests with partial mobility in Newlands in the Garden Lodge – please check with us for full details.

 

Is there car parking available?

We have extensive on road and off road parking, all free.

 

Where is the nearest train station and airport?

Nearest train stations are Penrith (25 miles) or Carlisle (25 miles). Nearest airports are Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool or Glasgow.

 

Are there any local buses?

X4 and X5 buses run between Workington and Penrith. There is a bus stop adjacent to the hotel.  

 

Are you able to store bicycles?

Yes, secure storage is available.

 

What local activities are there?

Many watersports including sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and boat hire. Cycling, walking and climbing are all nearby – please check our Things to Do section for details as well as our Bassenthwaite FAQ's or contact reception.

 

Can I buy gift vouchers for the hotel?

We sell gift vouchers for any sterling denomination, please call reception on 017687 76234.

 

Does the hotel have wifi?

Yes, free wifi is available throughout the hotel with the exception of the Garden Lodge.
