Derwentwater is one of the most northerly of the English
Lakes and one of the widest. Only a few minutes walk from
Keswick town centre, the views from the shores are delightful.
Cat Bells lies on the western shore of the lake and is the
scene of one of Beatrix Potter's best-known characters -
Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. A pleasant days walk can be made round
the Lake which passes some other of the locations from Mrs
Potter’s children’s books. For those who enjoy
a more relaxed activity a round trip of the lake on the launch
can be taken from here although it does stop off at various
points around the lake for those wanting to walk some of
the way back.
