If, like us, you enjoy all things foodie, you'll love this one. For the eighth year running, Taste Cumbria is returning to Cockermouth this September to treat us all to mouthwatering meals and scrumptious puddings. The two day event, organised for the weekend of the 23-24 September, has quickly become Cumbria's biggest and best food festival. What better place to stay for the festival than The Pheasant Inn!?
Situated not too far from the heart of Cockermouth, our Inn is the perfect location to enjoy the festival. The event brings the very best local producers to the plate, showcasing beautiful Cumbrian produce including cheese, sausages, baked goods, fish and much more. The Main Street will be jam-packed with deliciously tasty food and drink stalls and just over the river while the market place will play host to the hot food court where irresistible smells will draw you in.
A new addition this year is hailed 'the county’s most exclusive dining experience'. Kevin Tickle, Michelin Star Chef and Head-Chef of Grasmere's 'The Forest Side', will be attending the event where he will cook just two sittings - lunch and dinner - for 32 lucky guests in the Wordsworth House and Garden.
Not all about the food, Taste Cumbria brings plenty of drinks and tipples to the table too. For the first time, the event will unveil a Secret Gin Garden in the very lovely Castlegate Bar. Across the weekend, two breweries - Tractor Shed Brewing and Jennings - will collaborate to create the first Taste Cumbria Cockermouth Ale, available to buy at the event, along with the Prosecco Picnic with fizz from Tipsy Filly and a range of fabulous cocktails from Shed 1 Gin of Ulverston.
Around 40,000 people attended the food-filled weekend last year - a sure sign of delicious and tasty offers.
