Cumbria and the Lake District's biggest food festival – Taste Cumbria – takes place in and around the streets of Cockermouth next weekend (27th-29th September). The annual food and drink festival brings the very best of Cumbria's artisan food and drink producers together, as well as offering people the chance to visit unique pop-up restaurants, watch chef demonstrations, and take part in stimulating food & drink masterclasses.
It's not just food & drink
This year, for the first time, Taste Cumbria will be partnering up with the popular Northbound music festival. So as well as copious amounts of delicious food & drink, there’ll also be live music and entertainment across the town all weekend. Just a short stroll across the footbridge over the River Derwent from Bridge Street brings you to the town’s Memorial Gardens where the main stage, picnic area, children’s activities, and Park & Ride drop off will all be. A new comedy night on Friday 27 th September welcomes exciting young comedian, Tom Lucy, to Cumbria before he heads off on a huge UK arena tour supporting international comedy star, Jack Whitehall. Despite being just 22, Tom has already supported Whitehall and other household favourites including Kevin Bridges and Michael McIntyre.
Mouthwatering local producers
But back to the main reason people visit Taste Cumbria – the food! The main producer’s market has pride of place on Cockermouth’s Main Street where you'll find 80 stalls selling hundreds of goodies from cakes and gourmet marshmallows to cheese, wines, and gins. It’s only a short 10-minute drive from us at The Pheasant into Cockermouth and buses from Keswick can be picked up fairly close to our front door. We know it'll be hard not to get carried away with all the foodie delights on offer, but try to leave a little space to relax and enjoy dinner when you get back to the hotel.
