Easter at Bassenthwaite Lake
Easter is almost upon us and the long weekend gives many of our guests a wonderful opportunity to get away for a few days and recharge their batteries in the beautiful western Lake District.
Here in Bassenthwaite, the daffodils which Wordsworth so famously wrote, about are in full bloom and there can be no lovelier sight than new born lambs gambolling in the fields. There are so many things to do this Easter from lovely lakeside walks at Bassenthwaite, Loweswater and Derwentwater or maybe tackling the more strenuous routes of Skiddaw or Blencathra. On Easter Sunday itself the Bassenthwaite Rotary Club are setting up a fell top Cafe on nearby Latrigg summit in aid of charity. So you can reward yourself with a well-deserved home-made cake or Cumberland sausage roll after the short but steep ascent to the top.
If rejuvenating yourself at the Spa is more up your street, you will be pleased to hear that we offer complimentary passes (subject to availability) at the acclaimed luxury Spa at nearby Armathwaite Hall. There is a 16-metre "infinity" pool, sauna and steam room and outdoor hot tub overlooking the garden. The Spa also has ten treatment rooms, including a couple's room, where the expert staff offer professional attention and tailor every treatment to suit guests' needs. No Easter break would be complete without some fantastic food. We have new mouth-watering menus and you can eat in either our restaurant or bistro depending on how formal you are feeling. If you are in need of an Easter chocolate fix, we highly recommend our chocolate desserts - be warned they release serious endorphins and you definitely will want to share!
Finally as the day draws to an end, why not finish it in style and treat yourself to one 65 different types of whiskies as you relax and reflect on your day in our cosy characterful bar.
