Food & Drink

The Pheasant at Bassenthwaite is rightly renowned for the quality of its food and the unique atmosphere of the Fell Restaurant, Bistro and Bar. We have recently been awarded two coveted AA Rosettes for the great precision in our cooking and sourcing of quality local ingredients, and are proud to be the only restaurant in the Cockermouth postcode area with this accolade.

For a special event - or just an excellent meal in beautiful surroundings - fine dining in the Fell Restaurant is hard to match.

The Bistro, meanwhile, offers the same quality and a wide range of dishes in a less formal environment while in the Bar, guests can choose from a traditional menu for something great to eat along with a pint of real ale or a glass of good wine. We also serve a popular Afternoon Tea.

The Pheasant also offers a Private Dining option for up to 20 people, creating a private dinner party environment for your guests and a menu can be created with our Head Chef to suit any occasion. We also offer a traditional Sunday Lunch with a fixed price 2 or 3 course menu.

We are a dog friendly hotel and we allow dogs in the bar, lounges and of course the gardens. And if you are planning a day out walking whilst staying at the Pheasant, we can provide a packed lunch.

Booking is highly recommended.
